For the past few months, these two characters, Percy and Ludwig, have been haunting my sketchbooks. At the time I had no idea why I felt so compelled to draw them repeatedly until I realised what they were. They were actually manifestations of internalised insults, abuse, bullying etc I felt while growing up. From my physical appearance (The big nose, the messed up teeth, the glasses) to my personality (Being too loud and annoying, being selfish and lazy) and everything else that made me who I am, was scrutinized. Percy and Ludwig are caricatures of how I saw myself, and sometimes still continue to see myself on a daily basis.
This piece in particular reflects the cycle of thoughts in my head from this internalization. I receive absolutely lovely compliments sometimes and I get so much support from kind people, but having being trained to constantly drag myself down, the mind distorts any positives and turns it into a negative. The cycle always continues. Praise is quickly squashed by my poor self image and it feeds the negativity.
However, doing this project has allowed me to come to terms with who I am. I’m not in denial about it anymore and I hope this at least can act as a springboard for making some better changes for myself.

Here’s a sure-fire way to know that you hate women: when an incident of intimate partner violence in which a man knocks a woman unconscious gains national attention and every question or comment you think to make has to do with her behavior, you really hate women. Like, despise.

There is no other explanation. There is no “I need all the facts.” There is no excuse. You hate women. Own it.

Now, you probably don’t believe you hate women. You probably honestly think you’re being an objective observer whose only interest is the truth. You are delusional.

We have this problem in our discourse around the most important challenges we face where we feel we have to be “fair to both sides.” But sometimes, one of those sides is subjugation and oppression. If you’re OK with legitimizing that side in the interest of “fairness,” you’re essentially saying you’re OK with oppression as a part of the human condition. That’s some hateful shit.

THE BOY AND HIS ATOM
What you see above is the world’s smallest movie. The following movie is made out of atoms. IBM researchers used a scanning tunneling microscope to move thousands of carbon monoxide molecules (two atoms stacked on top of each other). This movie can only be seen when magnified by 100 million times.

EVERY TIME SOMEONE BRINGS UP THE LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA I GET SO ANGRY.

but why

Because it got burned. All of that knowledge, lost forever.

The library was destroyed over 1000’s of years ago. The library consisted of thousands of scrolls and books about mathematics, engineering, physiology, geography, blueprints, medicine, plays, & important scriptures. Thinkers from all over the Mediterranean used to come to Alexandria to study. Most of the major work of civilization up until that point was lost. If the library still survived till this day, society may have been more advanced and we would sure know more about the ancient world.

Me flirting: So do you think Dumbledore’s over protection of Harry to the point where it harmed more than helped him stemmed from a desire to compensate for being so careless about the life of his sister and abandoning his brother when he was supposed to be the head of the family?

Protesters from across St Louis turned up and turned out for the first St Louis County Council Meeting since Mike Brown’s Death. (Part I)

The St Louis County Council wasn’t as bad as Ferguson’s Council, but still very few answers and virtually no accountability from the folks who unleashed unholy hell on the residents of Ferguson, following Brown’s murder. #staywoke #farfromover
